Perfect for a short trip to unwind!
We are absolutely satisfied! The breakfast leaves nothing to be desired, there is a lunch buffet from 1pm to 5pm and the evening meal is always very good, plentiful and delicious. We were able to relax wonderfully. I would recommend everyone to book a massage here! The best massage I have ever had. Perfect for a hiking holiday followed by relaxation in the sauna.

very good hotel with amazing food.
Booked via a well known website, this hotel was very good indeed. First thing of note though - the photos of the hotel show two separate buildings, which are separated by the fairly busy road through the village, not the flower-filled meadow it would appear.
The hotel food is wonderful - an amazing buffet breakfast with most everything one could want. This is followed up with a free lunchtime buffet with several choices of main course/desserts and cake, with various and ice creams, all on a 'help yourself to whatever' basis.
Evening meal is a choice of main courses, with set appetizer, then choice of soup or the starter, and a choice of desserts as well. Add in a salad buffet , and the huge cheese buffet and its a 6 course evening meal to your choice. just a note that there are only a couple of other cafe's/restaurants in the village, so evening meal choice would be very limited if staying bed and breakfast.
To work off the calories, the hotel hires out both mountain bikes and E-Mountain Bikes which allow use of the extensive biking trails nearby. Walkers are well catered for with many different planned routes- many starting from the village. The hotel also has its own tennis court, with rackets available from reception, and a small gym (cross trainer and static bikes, but no treadmill).
The hotel was VERY Covid aware, with nitrile gloves needing to be worn when getting anything from the buffet/pouring coffees and teas etc.
A fantastic stay in this very good standard hotel.

Very Good hotel in a center of Klingenbrunn
Hotel in total is very good. We arrived very late but we were given keys very quickly and asked if we would like to drink something after a long way.
Room is big enough and very clean. Complimentary bottle of water and wine glass as a gift from some glass factory nearby. Hot water was available even that late.
Rich breakfast: very good choice of meat, wurst etc. and very good choice of different cheeses, fresh bread, fried eggs, deep fried bacon, variety of muesli, jams, honey, juices, butter, milk and mineral water.
As far as I remember there were also some alcoholic drinks but I am not sure which ones. No vegetables and lack of fruits but that was not a problem for us at all. Quick service. Russian speaking staff in breakfast room (Elena), very polite, very attentive.
There is a spa in a hotel, as well as a gym and a pool but I can't say anything about them as we did not use it. I would recommend this hotel for others, it is really of good level.
It was a little bit noisy in the morning because hotel is situated on the main road, so cars began to ride early. When we drink coffee in the afternoon it took us almost 15 minutes to find staff to pay for it :)

Erholung pur
Das Hotel Hochriegel wirbt auf seiner Homepage mit dem Slogan "WILLKOMMEN BEI FREUNDEN", dieses Gefühl hatten wir von Anfang an, als wir für unseren 1-wöchigen Urlaub dort eingecheckt hatten. Wir hatten das Angebot "Wander- und Wohlfühlwochen" ausgewählt und waren in einer 45 qm-großen Enzian-Suite im Nebengebäude untergebracht. In der "Residence" gab es auch ein Schwimmbad, eine großzügige finnische Panoramasauna und ein römisches Aromadampfbad. Nach einer Wanderung konnte man hier perfekt die müden Glieder wieder auffrischen. Zu dem Wander-Angebot gehörten auch 4 geführte Wanderungen mit dem Hochriegel-Wanderteam, von denen wir drei Wanderungen mitgemacht haben und es gab sogar einen hoteleigenen Bus, so daß nicht alle Teilnehmer mit dem eigenen Auto mitfahren mußten. Hervorragend ist auch die “Hochriegel Dreiviertel-Pension” mit sehr gutem Frühstücksbuffet und abendlichem 4-Gang Feinschmeckermenü (ein Lob an Küchenchef Max Stadler), Mittagsbuffet + Kaffee, Kaiserschmarrn, Kuchen etc. und leckerem selbstgemachtem Eis. Die zentrale Lage in Klingenbrunn zwischen Frauenau und Spiegelau gelegen, ist ideal für Ausflüge und Wanderungen. Das Nationalparkzentrum Lusen mit dem Hans-Eisenmann-Haus, dem Baumwipfelpfad mit Aussichtsturm, dem Tierfreigehege ist vom Hotel ca. 17 km entfernt und von Speigelau aus mit dem Igelbus auch öffentlich gut zu erreichen. Wir werden in jedem Fall wiederkommen und an weiteren Wanderungen teilnehmen, damit sich der Hotel-Wanderpaß weiter füllen wird.

Ruhige Tage im Bayrischen Wald
Nachdem unser Teneriffa Urlaub wegen der Neckermann Pleite ins Wasser gefallen ist haben wir uns für den Bayrischen Wald entschieden. Das Hotel Hochriegel hat seine vier Sterne absolut verdient. Tolle Zimmer, sehr nettes und zuvorkommendes Hotelpersonal. Das Frühstück und das Abendessen ist super. Wir haben sogar den Aufenthalt verlängert.
