Khao sok rain forest resort - fantastic!

Absolutely fantastic hotel, full of charm and beautiful grounds.
The location of this hotel is just outside Khao sok national park so it is perfect for hiking or exploring nature. Inside the hotel grounds there is a lovely river flowing past the restaurant and at the back of our cottage. The rooms are very clean with all mod cons and tastefully decorated. The breakfast is superb with many different choices in a buffet style, I can recommend eating here in evening also as we did two nights in a row.
Really a great place to stay in this area whether you are visiting Khao sok or the dam, we loved it!!

Cheap but really not great

We booked a bungalow by the river, but there is a construction in progress right next door 10 meters: the view from the room overlooked a Concrete Mixer and a mountain of scrap metal, the outside looks like a slum because of the work. It is noisy even at night. The whole is old and poorly maintained. The English level of the staff is insufficient, it lacks a smile (it is an attic for Thailand which is known for the kindness of its inhabitants). Watch out for dozens of monkeys who do not hesitate to rob you (they know how to open the zippers of bags).

Great value for money

The accommodation is located in the middle of the tourist village. Friendly reception at the reception and after check-in you will be taken to the room with a golf cart so you do not have to drag your luggage. Over the bridge the terrain does not look very inviting. There are building materials here and there at half dilapidated buildings and the whole looks very messy, not really a holiday look. It would have been better to make a separation here to hide e.a.
Our bungalow on the waterfront is spacious, clean and tidy with a balcony with 2 chairs and a table facing the stream / river. The bathroom is also spacious. The bed is big, not too soft/ not too hard, fine for us. The air conditioning works properly and there are tea and coffee making facilities and a refrigerator and safe. You can pair your phone with the TV.
All in all we found the price / quality fine, we have not seen monkeys, even at the pool.

Fine but not for a holiday

Room was fine aircon and bathroom was ok, great view out into the trees. They warn you monkeys will try to come in if you don’t lock doors, we saw evidence of them trying this on other rooms! But didn’t experience any problems. Super close for national park, and also for the village with lots of food options and tour options. We wanted to book a one night lake tour and it was fully booked with the hotel but we booked easily with a desk just down the road so it seemed possible to wait till you arrive to book. They stored our bags for us whilst we went on our tour but just in a store room with food and things behind reception which was a bit smelly. Fairly large site, felt run down, slide into river out of service and generally construction stuff lying around etc, needs a tidy up, felt a bit unloved. For a nights stay for the national park fine, wouldn’t choose to holiday here for a longer stay. Breakfast was just ok, didn’t eat any evening meals here as some reviews had said not good.

Very good hotel with great location

The hotel is nice, the little bungalows are very nice, there is a large swimming pool. Air conditioning in the bedroom. The surroundings of the hotel are pretty, the hotel is located in the middle of the village and close to everything. Possibility of booking activities on site as well as transfers.
Decent breakfast with choice. I recommend !
