Amazing experience

We arrived to a welcoming party of 3 different cats, one at the entrance to reception and 1 on the chair and one on the reception desk. We stayed in the rooms with the lion's enclosure as the window. The rooms are stunning, we loved the room. The lions didnt really come down till the last morning, they came down early around 5h30am and we managed to get some selfies, before then started playing with the tree branches etc. after about 30 minutes they went back up to the top, but we enjoyed the moments with them, just having glass (and electric "fence" on the floor outside the window) between the lions and us was an awesome experience.
Included in our booking was a walking tour and the guide ( can't recall his name) was very informative and the variety of animals on site is amazing. The enclosures are all clean and the animals are well looked after. we decided to do the tour again the following morning and were advised to rather do the driven tour. We paid extra (your booking only includes 1 walking tour for the whole booking) and went on a golf cart tour of the enclosures. Again, this guide (Jay) was very knowledgeable, and we got to see different animals to the walking tour.
We loved the signs everywhere with inspiring sayings on the enclosures. There are enclosures in the front of the property with near the rooms that have lions, and jackals and some other animals that you can walk around and see. As well as at the back where the tours are conducted ( this is only accessible during the walking tours) All the enclosures have the animals names and an inspirational saying or some details about the animals. They have a lot of Lions including white lions. A lot of the animals they have are previous pets or from zoo's etc that have closed down. They also are part of the wild dog rehab breeding which was amazing.
Breakfast was included in our rates, and was lovely, we ordered a plate of their cheesy bacon chips to have at our room with our wraps that we had made. The chips were delicious. The highlight of our stay was listening to the Lions roaring at night. Our last night we had been walking round the enclosures in the front and were just about to head back to our room. When one lion started roaring, the female joined in and from there the other lions in the other enclosures joined. It is the most amazing sound, we left the lions and headed back to our room. The lions continued roaring in the front then the Jackals would call and the lions in the back area would roar, followed by the front enclosures roaring. this continued through most the evening. We asked if there was an issue as they hadn't been so vocal the previous evening, we were advised that the one Lion felt that he wasn't feed enough and was protesting, and the others joined lol.
Would recommend this, and definitely do both the walking and the drive tour.

A Lion Twist

If one likes animals it's the perfect place to stay for young and old. There are big luxurious rooms and smaller ones as well. Wherever you stay you will hear the Lions roar and there are plenty of other animal sounds.
The guided tours are informative.
The restaurant serves dinner, which was very good but my guests said the meat was cold. Breakfast was fine too.

Lions, ribs, and true hospitality!

Good value for room and breakfast. Comfortable place to be, warm atmosphere. Beautiful view, best ribs, and amazing sound of lion roars in the evening and early morning. Only thing, double bed wasn’t very comfortable. But for the price I would still return. FYI- last stretch is a gravel road a little beaten up from strong rains, but our little car had no problems.

Great place to stay!

After a terrible ordeal the previous night, we arrived at Pumbaa, and what a nice place! The staff were very friendly, helpful and knew exactly what to do to let you feel welcome. Staff went out of their way to make our stay special!

Que du bonheur

Que dire de cet endroit. Tout y fut parfait. L'accueil, le petit déjeuner, la chambre immense, la literie hyper confortable absolument tout.
L'hôtel dispose en prime d'une petite réserve animalière privée. Une partie gratuite ou des lions sont visibles. Une seconde partie payante (une somme vraiment ridicule, environ 5€)
Au début sceptique quand on sait le nombre d'animaux en liberté dans ce pays, on se rend compte que c'est en fait une réserve qui sauve les animaux de destins malheureux comme le trafic, la chasse, les zoos et autres horreurs. Un petit jardin du souvenir est érigé en mémoire des animaux partis.
Jay Jay a été un guide super qui nous a tout expliqué et répondait à toutes nos questions.
Bref un super endroit a faire les yeux fermés.
Le rapport qualité prix est imbattable.
